Travel Purpose: business

Positive: The house was great. Had loads of room, a well stocked kitchen, a fireplace, and an extremely helpful host. The location was just out of Sapa town (away from the traffic) but close enough to walk if you had time to kill, or a 5 minute ride on a scooter. The host went out of his way to decorate the place for Xmass on the morning we arrived, which was a really nice touch. He was also very available and responsive if we had questions or needed help with anything.

Negative: Not necessarily a dislike, but just a heads up to any future travelers. The water heaters were activated by unmarked light switches, so if you accidently turned one of them off, you may be confused as to why the hot water is gone. Another thing, the fireplace smokes a lot if you use normal wood. The host was extremely helpful in helping us sort this out, and in the end we discovered that the key is to use the smokeless cylindrical charcoal you get at the market. We bought a box of this stuff and ran the fire for days.
