Positive: Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself is actually quite lovely. It’s also in a great location

Negative: However, we stayed in room 302 shortly after the flooding, and the flooding had severely affected the hotel. Our room smelled unbearable and was extremely damp. For example, we left a cardboard box of plasters on the small table; when we checked out after two nights, it was completely soaked through. That is how damp the room still was. The dampness also affected the bedding: the duvets and pillows felt very clammy, and we actually felt cold under them. During the flooding, the water reportedly reached up to one meter. The walls had not been properly dried out, everything felt clammy, and the room smelled very bad—almost like a stench. After sleeping there, we developed sore throats during the night and chest congestion. This room should not have been rented out in that condition. In addition, the rooms have extremely poor lighting. Where you actually need light, there is only a very dim lamp, while the light in front of the mirror is so harsh that neighbours can see you through the curtains—potentially even when you are standing there in underwear. The shower has very low water pressure and effectively only two settings: cold and hot. Getting consistently warm water for any length of time was not possible for me. Breakfast generally offers a good selection. However, on our first morning, the staff member on duty did not replenish the buffet. Breakfast is served until 9:30 a.m., but by 9:15 a.m. the buffet was half empty and nothing was topped up, not even in small amounts, so the choice at 9:15 a.m. was very limited. The rooms are also very noisy. As early as 6:00 a.m., staff members walk around using loud walkie-talkies, speaking into them and waking guests up. Overall, I would say this hotel needs renovation due to the water damage. The walls need to be properly dried out, because in its current condition—at least room 302—I consider the hotel to be detrimental to health.

Summary: I’m truly sorry about the flooding, but the hotel should not be renting out rooms yet
