Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: A beautiful, secluded setting with huge potential, but uneven service and infrastructure issues hold it back. Location & Environment: Stunning natural beach, quiet and undeveloped, with a peaceful inlet and sandbank. Bungalows are just back from the shore, so you wake to the sound of the water. Inland gardens, orchids, and a maze add charm; some construction but not disruptive. The area is very secluded: a moto is essential unless you want to stay put. It takes about 40 minutes to reach most places, aside from Rory’s Beach Bar and the small town 2–3 km north. Room / Bungalow: Comfortable bungalow with a good bed, mosquito net, and a pleasant outdoor bathroom. Nice extra: free paddle boards were provided because electric-powered activities couldn’t operate during outages. Facilities & Activities: Fun additions like pig racing, a maze, a driving range, and new glamping structures. These are charming but feel secondary to more urgent needs like service and hospitality basics. Value for Money: About €40 per night is excellent for a beachfront bungalow in such a beautiful setting. Electricity problems and the laundry incident reduce overall value. Food and drink are pricier than expected given the broader experience. This property sits on extraordinary land and the bungalows themselves are lovely. With meaningful improvements to service, electricity reliability, communication, and dining, it could easily become a standout destination. I’d gladly return if these core elements were strengthened

Negative: High tide sometimes creates a shallow “moat” around bungalows — mildly inconvenient. No generator: frequent evening blackouts due to external factors (we were unlucky with an island wide electricity problem), and returning power surges damaged some of our devices. Room cleaning only happens on request and is inconsistently done. Food, Bar & Atmosphere: Atmosphere suffers due to blackouts and lack of lighting; restaurant sits in darkness with little ambience. Food and drinks are pricey for the quality; after the first night we chose to eat elsewhere. (Nearby alternatives: Rory’s Beach Bar and a local town with good phở.) Tub not functional; hot water is inconsistent. Service & Hospitality: Staff are kind but overstretched and lack support. Minimal English — WhatsApp/translation is essential for communication. Often had to search for staff for basics like towels or room servicing. Laundry service ruined our clothes (dyed yellow), though they didn’t charge us. Manager/owner is present but not actively involved, leaving staff to manage alone.
